Pl.Prt.350a; θ. περί τι Arist.Rh.1383a15: Comp. -ώτερος Id.PA667a16, Pl.Prt.l.c.; τὸ θαρσαλέον confidence, ἐν τῷ θαρσαλέῳ εἶναι Th.2.51, cf. Lys.21.25: so in Adv., θαρραλέως ἔχειν to be of good courage, πρὸς θάνατον Pl.Ap.34e; πρὸς τοὺς πολεμίους X.An.2.6.14: Comp. -ώτερον Isoc.Ep.7.3.

2. in bad sense, overbold, audacious, θ. καὶ ἀναιδής Od.17.449; θαρσαλέη, κύον ἀδεές 19.91; θ. καὶ θρασεῖς Pl.Lg.649c. Adv., ψευδῆ λέγειν θαρραλέως Is.10.1.
