ἀχᾰ́ριστ-ος, ον, (χᾰρίζομαι) ungracious, unpleasant, οὐκ ἀχάριστα μεθ' ἡμῖν ταῦτ' ἀγορεύεις Od.8.236: irreg. Comp., δόρπου ἀχαρίστερον (for -ιστότερον) 20.392; without grace or charm, οὐκ ἀχάριστα λέγειν X.An.2.1.13; φωνή Epicur.Sent.Vat.75; -ότερον ἐπιμέλημα a more thankless business, X.Oec.7.37; ἀ. ἐξέτασις D.H.Pomp.1.

3. Pass., unrequited, ἀ. εἶναι τὰ ἀνηλωμένα Lys.21.12. Adv. οὐκ ἂν ἀχαρίστως μοι ἔχοι πρός τινος thanks would not be refused me by .., X. An.2.3.18.

4. Adv. -τως with a bad grace, with an ill will, ἀ. ἕπεσθαι follow sulkily, Id.Cyr.7.4.14; τὰς χάριτας ἀ. χαρίζεσθαι Isoc.1.31.
